As part of my new lifestyle to switch to healthier alternatives, I am committed to eat salad everyday. So, I am trying to risk things a little bit and try new flavors. So far so good! Today, I decided to add a few new flavors to the traditional Egyptian “baladi” salad and those flavors were sesame paste (tahini), green olives and cranberries. It was a successful salad and hope you try it and enjoy the new flavors too 🙂
Ingredients
6 sliced lettuce leaves
4 diced tomatoes
2 diced peeled Persian cucumbers
1/2 diced green bell pepper
2 tbsp feta
Few pitted sliced green olives
2 tbsp dried cranberries or more if you like
Vinaigrette
2 tbsp olive oil
3 to 4 tbsp water
1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp sumac or paprika if not available
1 tbsp Greek yogurt
1/2 tbsp tahini or sesame paste
1/2 tsp honey
1 lime juice
Salt and pepper
Optional: 1 minced garlic clove and little bit of dried mint
Mix the vinaigrette ingredients well.
Dice all the vegetables and place them in a large bowl.
Add feta to the veggies.
Add the vinaigrette to the salad right before serving.
