Egyptian Chicken Panne – Fried πŸ˜‰

Traditional Egyptian Fried Chicken or what is known as panne.
I love fried chicken and making different variations but sometimes I crave the traditional Egyptian way.

  • 4 boneless chicken breast thin cut
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 1.5 tsp all spices
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 2 eggs
  • Italian herb bread crumbs
  • 1 cup of all purpose flour or as needed
  • vegetable oil for deep frying

Rub the sliced onion very well in a large bowl with salt and pepper. Set aside for few minutes.

Wash and pat dry the chicken – ver important step.

Mix the chicken with the onions in the large bowl and add the yogurt, lemon juice, all spices, salt and pepper.

Beat the eggs well ☺️and add a pinch of salt and pepper to it.

Now dip the chicken in flour and paprika mix until fully covered then eggs then in bread crumbs. Cover it well with breadcrumbs and press hard.

Set in fridge for 30 minutes then deep fry it in hot oil on medium to low heat. The oil has to be a lot for deep frying.

This was great tasting chicken and super easy to prepare. The spices gave the chicken a wonderful flavor and the frying crisped up the chicken nicely. Thank you!
