Egyptian Roqaq Dough Recipe

Since I started to live in USA, there was always one dish that I crave and I can never make. You can guess by now, it is El roqaq. I tried different weird recipes to replace this delicious pastry or dough and nothing ever worked.

It was until one Saturday after a long working week that I decided it is time to try to make this dough myself. Nothing to lose except flour, before covid quarantine it was ok to lose few cups of flour but now it is very precious. So I hope you read this recipe well before you start so no flour will be wasted 😂

Ingredients

1 to 1.5 cup of warm water

4 cups of flour

1 tsp of salt

Dough: in a kitchen machine or by hand mix the flour, salt and water until a dough is formed and not sticky to your hand. You can add flour little by little until it is not sticky if needed

Divide the dough into 10 balls and cover to let it rest

Warm up the oven to 400 degrees and place a Cookie tray upside down in it

Get the first ball and on a surface covered with flour, roll it into circular thin layer.

Move the dough to the oven for a couple of minutes

And repeat
