Yogurt salad…Salatit Zabadi


The yogurt salad is one of the easiest salads to make and it goes very well with grilled beef or chicken. I think the secret ingredient to make a best yogurt salad is the type of the yogurt. Definitely labneh would always be my first choice, you can get it from any Armenian or Arabic store. If you do not have it, my second choice would be the thick original plain yogurt and it will still be pretty good. The recipe is pretty straight forward and despite that it is usually served beside meat, sometimes I like it as breakfast with some crackers. There is no right or wrong with how to eat the food anyway 🙂

1 labneh or greek yogurt for a healthier choice
5 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon dried mint or more (I like it)
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 peeled and thinly shredded large cucumber
salt and pepper

It is so easy to make it now, just mix all the above. However, make sure that you squeeze the water out of the cucumbers by putting it on paper towel or squeeze it with your hands. This is important if you like that yogurt salad not to be watery. Enjoy!
