Egyptian salad dressing

Egyptian  salad is usually called baladi salad. It has mainly tomatoes and cucumber as the main ingredients. However, different versions  could also include shredded carrots, bell peppers and onions. The common thing among those variations is the marinade or the dressing. It has this tangy garlicky and minty flavor. It is very Egyptian😀. I started to use this marinade on different salads like this one below and people loved it! Hope you like it too.

Ingredients

1 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon apple cider or white vinegar
1 lime juice
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon dried mint
3 minced garlic cloves
1/4 teaspoon sumac
1 tablespoon water
Salt and pepper to taste

In a small bowl, mix it all together. You can store it for later use in a jar or ziploc.

For today’s salad, I used this beautiful mix of:

  • Spring mix greens
  • 2 diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • Diced black olives to taste

Mix all together then drizzle the marinade all over right before eating.
