If you ever get to visit Egypt, you have to go to one of the famous seafood places over there like Adoora, Fish market, the borg (not the actually the Egyptian borg as in “tower”, it is a name of a restaurant) or visit my mom š This shrimp recipe is not 100% Egyptian since I put some ingredients that are not usually added when Egyptians usually cook the shrimp. It is very simple to cook though since all the work is in the marination. Speaking of marination, one of the main differences that I noticed when Egyptians cook seafood versus other western countries is the marination. It might not be the right way to cook seafood but we add a lot of lime and so many ingredients in marination. The end result is super tasty as well! In Egypt, shrimp are usually eaten as below or grilled with butter!
Ingredients
3 pounds shrimp
1 slicedĀ red onions
6 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon pesto
1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 diced bell pepper
1 tablespoon freshly chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons freshly choppedĀ parsley
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons fish spices including cumin, coriander, paprika or the ready mixed ones
3 limes’ juices
A little bit of lime zest (1/8 teaspoon)
salt and pepper

Wash and devein the shrimp.
Mix everything above in a separate bowl without the shrimp. Rub the spices well with the onions.
Cover the shrimp as shown below with the marination and let it marinate for at least an hour.
Now get a hot skillet, add some olive oil. Then add the shrimp and stir once. Then cover and cook for 5 minutes. Uncover and stir once more, then let it cook for another couple of minutes until done and redish from both sides.
Garnish with some fresh parsley and dill. Enjoy!
