Welcome to my Egyptian food blog! I called it scarf gal food blog since I am a gal and I am always wearing a scarf, also known as, “Hijab” and I LOVE cooking! My name is Simona Afifi and I have been into software engineering for more than 15 years until I reached to a great position at an awesome company asย an Executive Director of Engineering. So, is it too late to take a few steps back and pause to see where we are going?! I guess not. As of Friday 04/17/2015, I quit my job and I am pursuing my dream.
Since, my whole life is into engineering, I am not a good blog writer and I am not academically prepared for culinary arts, but here we are! I have a great passion for food and creating recipes that are originally Egyptian but still influenced by the American cuisine. Sometimes, I come up with recipes that I have no idea to which kitchen they belong to. So, please bear with me as at the end of the day, I promise you they will be d e l i c i o u s!
Egyptian food is kind of a mix between regular Mediterranean, Italian, Indian and Vegan cuisines. So, the sky is the limit when it comes to recipesย one can make.
Hope you enjoy the Egyptian recipes with some twists!
